An Effective Prayer Life (:

Monday, October 25
Hellow! (:

Once again, I'm back. :) More updates on my life! Yay!

Sunday- I listened to a great sermon by Dr John Vaughn on An Effective Prayer Life. Its really good. Click on the link to listen to it. Well, Dr John preached on how important prayer can be in our lives. Prayer is God's gift, God's weapon for us, in this spiritual battle. It is one of the two means of grace, prayer and God's word. It is through this two that we recieve our salvation- if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus(prayer) and believe in our hearts (God's word). And it is through prayer and meditating on God's word that we grow. Prayer, such a powerful weapon is so often neglected. Ask God to show you the power of prayer, He will. And prayer will be the only solution you can find, in a problem. Ever heard of a prayer warrior? If we learn to use prayer effectively as God teaches us, prayer can even be more effective than sending many missionaries to preach God's word. Prayer is the key to the doors of the souls of man. Hudson Taylor's maxim "Learn to move man, through God, by prayer alone". I believe is what Taylor experience in his close walk with God, and finally realises the importance of prayer. Just this two words, "prayer warrior" thrills my soul. Sometimes I wonder how people spend 3 or even 4 hours praying. "So much to pray about?" I would ask. But as I learn to pray, and pray more often, I see that I have so much to tell God about. And sometimes, if not for the distractions of the world, I don't and can't seem to stop. A prayer warrior is so important in this spiritual warfare. With these people, doors swing open as the gospel is presented to non-believers. You realise that we often use, "I'll pray for you.", or "Will keep you in prayer." as a form of greeting? But in fact, we do not really pray? I've always believed that once I said that to a person, I would immediately pray to God. Why wait until you forget? You never know how important it can mean to that person. And often we tell our troubles to someone, and we'll say, "Please pray for me." Familiar? But in fact, our purpose is to relate our problem, but we do not trust in the power of prayer. A verse that I love alot when I heard this sermon, its Jer 33:3. God came to Jeremiah when he was locked in prison with this verse that He wants to bring to us now. "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." Beautiful verse yea? "... and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." God will hear our prayer and answer us- this is His promise - not only that He will show us that it is His work, and it will be obvious to us that we cannot deny that it is indeed from God. Do not hold back anything in prayer with God. Pour our your hearts before him. Do not magnify God's strictness with a zeal. There is a wideness in God's mercy. So take everything to God in prayer now!

Today we had End-of-year activity (EOYA). We went Ice-skating! Woah, so fun. I've skate once before and its really quite fun to skate once again. Starting was quite hesitant and worrying, but once I got the hang of it, I literally was able to glide through the skating ring. Most of my friends who didnt know how to skate at first, were able to grasp the idea of skating easily and after sometime, most were able to skate well. It really was fun today, but tiring though. It also quite nice to think of how pleasant it would be to be able to skate in real ice when travelling. Ha, thats really worth a thought. But, for me now, I think I'll content with skating once more tomorrow. (:
