But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them - 2 Timothy 3:14Reading on how Joe Zichterman, a godly song writer who wrote A Passion for Thee, No Good Thing, Things Done in Secret, etc. has left the Fundementals for the Evangelicals saddens my heart.
Psalm 12:1 "Help, LORD, for godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men" - Lord, preserve your faithful.
I thank the Lord for this period of time, because not only has He given me time for outward exammination (learning to conclude the folly of the world) He has given me also to ponder about the many conflicts within the church (Charismatic movement, emerging church, etc). Fundementalist vs. Non-fundementalist. I'm glad I know what and why I believe. Believe fundementalists do not have a "good reputation" not only in the world today, but also within the christian community. We are said to have pretty "high control" and "extremists". But regardless of that or not, we stand on nothing else but the Word of God. And I am thankful we do. Fundementalists are fundementalist because we choose to be fundementalist.
The challenge that came from Dr Curt Lamensky came through to me: Youths today NEED to be grounded in what they believe because the days are coming when the fundementalists will be "attacked" on every side by many new and worldly doctrines. Ah, if need be, to be thoroughly equipped with theology and doctrines, though it may be dry and imapplicable at times.
Anw, of course all talk about the conflict within the church brings no glory to God, and is in fact vainity. But I think the conference, the reflections points a man to love God more than anything else, love, treasure and cling onto the sure, authorotative Word of God. Praise the Lord that even if the moutains and the hills fall and crumble (ideas and philosophy of men), the Word of God abideth forever! (: And it is because of this, it ought to be every man's Authority in life.
"Even so a good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them."
Truly, by their fruits you will know them. The twofold test (whether one speaks in the name of the Lord) the practical test: the moral outcome of their works and secondly the dogmatic test: whether the teachings are consistent with the Word of God.
"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock; and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock."
"But everyone who hears these saying of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand; and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."
What kind of house do we wanna be building for God?
I want my life to built upon His Word and it only; not according to the wimps and fancy of my desire, not according to the pervasive influence of the world, but on every living Word that cometh from His breath.
"My food is to do the will of Him, who sent Me, and to finish His work" - John 4:34
