The Meaning of Christmas

Sunday, December 23
I am startled yesterday when my friend told me that christmas was just two three days away! I must say that this year everything past by so quickly, too quickly. And sadly I think that I havent sat down to rest and meditate, even contemplate the meaning of life.

The season never fails to bring me into remembrance of a gift that brought love, joy, peace, hope and salvation into the world and particularly into my life. That gift is Jesus Christ. Hmm, this festive season is particularly heartwarming to me not because of the lightings and decors, not because of the gifts and presents and exchange of cards but because it celebrates the fulfillment of God's promise since the beginning- which is a coming Saviour who would save the whole world from sin and death.

“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! -John 1:29

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. -Luke 2:10-11

Christmas is different from any other season because it should be celebrated by everyone in this world- for it celebrates hope for the whole world. It is a fact the world groans for help since its beginning, well, ever since sin entered into the world through adam and eve. The christmas carol goes, "Long lay the world in sin and error, pinning. Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth" When Jesus came as a baby, born of the virgin mary, entered into the world a Deliverer, first by salvation from sin and second (soon) by earthly and heavenly dominion from darkness and evil.

For my dear blog readers who neither celebrate christmas nor are professing believers, I implore you to consider, yes, just ponder the meaning of Christmas, this season. The historicity of Jesus Christ cannot be refuted. Nay, it will never be. Jesus came to earth, 2000 years ago. History does not deny it. As to whether he was God (as He claimed to be) who came in flesh to be our sacrificial lamb and justify us from sins condemnation, you have to decide for yourself.

In Acts 4:12,
"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Here's a Man who who was given to us that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Would it harm to spend a few moments in your life to make the most important decision you can ever make that will determine where you spend ETERNITY? Well yes, just consider. Then you can start by seeking for God promised in Jer 29:13, "Ye shall seek me and find me when ye search for me with all of your heart". If Jesus IS God, how shall we live our lives without Him?

If Jesus IS Lord, how can I live my life without Him?
